WHALE WATCHING IN MENDOCINO
Best on California Coast

Whales migrate north along the California coast photoThe coast of California’s Mendocino County from Point Cabrillo to Fort Bragg which geographically bows out into the Pacific currents makes this stretch of beautiful rugged shore uniquely shaped to provide some of the best views of swimming whales from the shore or whale watching tour boats.Mostly California Gray Whales along with Humpbacks, the rare gigantic Blue Whale and Orca Killer Whales migrate north every year from February to April in pods at the rate of dozens an hour, usually reaching a peak in March, with some pods of 20 whales at a time. The area provides a wide variety of B&B's, motels and hotel lodgings for whale viewing with The whales swim close enough you needn’t even leave the comfort of your hotel or bed & breakfast porch or balcony hot tub with a wine in your hand.
